Turkish League Goalkeeper Collapses After Rough Collision With Beşiktaş' Tyler Boyd
Turkish football club Demir Grup Sivasspor's goalkeeper collapsed on the pitch during a match against Beşiktaş on Aug. 17.
There were scary scenes in Sivas, Turkey on Saturday when Demir Grup Sivasspor’s goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa was taken to the hospital after he fainted while he was being helped off of the pitch to deal with an injury he suffered just moments earlier. The injury in question came as a result of colliding with Beşiktaş and USMNT forward Tyler Boyd. Both players were tracking down a lobbed ball at full speed and ended up running into one another as a result.
After remaining on his back for some time, Samassa was able to get on his feet and make his way towards the sideline with some help from the training staff. He began talking to another player during his walk back, but then started to go limp before eventually passing out entirely.
The 29-year-old Malian-French goalkeeper Mamadou Samassa fainted after a clash with Beşiktaş's Tyler Boyd during the opening match of the top-tier 2019-2020 Turkish Super Lig, in the country's central province of Sivas.
Samassa was taken to a hospital after the incident which occurred during the match's first half.
Sivasspor beat Beşiktaş 3-0 with goals from Mert Hakan Yandas in the 30th minute, Mustapha Yatabare in the 54th minute and Emre Kılınç in the 76th minute.
The away match was the worst opening for the Istanbul giants Beşiktaş in Turkish Süper Lig history.

Samassa ran from his goalline to contest a long ball into the box, but with Boyd's eyes focused on the ball, the forward's knee smashed into Samassa's midrift.
The collision left the goalkeeper flat on his back inside the penalty area and he still looked to be suffering as he was helped to his feet and walked off the pitch
